Summary:
This story about respect has a simple theme, but it is a bit complicated and may need some explaining to young readers. The main characters in this story are blobs of colors, all with their unique personalities. “Blue” is a quiet color that is picked on by a bully color, “Red”. “Red” picks on all the other colors, too, until they all become a little blue. A new color in the shape of a “1” arrives on the scene and he makes the colors laugh, all except “Red” who gets mad because they’re laughing. Number “1” challenges “Red” and encourages the colors to stand up for themselves against “Red”. All the colors except “Red” change their shapes and become numbers. “Blue” happily becomes number “6” and when “Red” tries to bully “Blue”, all the other colors rush to his defense. A defeated “Red” shrinks to almost nothing, and finally decides to join in the fun instead of being a bully.
