In 2019, Isaac Durst noticed something troubling, not just in his own home, but in homes across America. Children and parents were physically present but emotionally absent. Screens had quietly stolen the dinner table, the car ride, the bedtime ritual.
Stories can help parents and children find a starting point for conversations about kindness, courage, responsibility, and other values. Our guides provide questions and activities that families and educators can use in their own setting.

“Most parents know what matters. They just don't know how to start the conversation.”
Isaac is an educator, writer, and parent whose career has spanned broadcasting in Korea and school leadership as a principal. After years of working closely with children and families, he saw how disconnected even the best-intentioned parents had become.
Values & Virtues is a program of The Principled Academy Inc. It provides online book guides, discussion questions, and activities for families and educators, organized around 12 core virtues. Contributions support the development and maintenance of these resources.
