About the Story
This is a heartwarming story about two girls who cross the racial divide by sitting together on the fence that separates white families from black families. The message of this book is that children aren’t racists like their parents. They don’t see color, only another kid to play with. If adults could see through children’s eyes we wouldn’t have racial conflict. The reading of the book is followed by a video montage that celebrates the progress of overcoming the racial divide in the U.S.A.
